five people have been confirmed dead and 15 others injured after two suicide bombers attacked a hospital in Molai area of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State in northeastern Nigeria.
The two women tried to get into a hospital but were stopped by security guards at the gate and blew themselves up, witnesses said.
“We evacuated the charred bodies of the two security guards, another civilian and the two bombers,” said Auwal Mohammed, a member of the community in Molai, where the hospital is situated.
Conflicting death tolls continue to trail the suicide bombing incident.
Eyewitness accounts say that 3 people were killed while 15 others were injured.
However, the North-East Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mr. Mohammed Kanar, says that five people died in the incident.
Mr. Kanar added that one issue that continues to affect rescue efforts after terrorists attacks is that of crowd control.
President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the military hierarchy to move the military command centre to the troubled northestern town in order to curb the Boko Haram menace after his inauguration last month.
However, more than 100 people have reportedly been killed in northeast Nigeria in the past few weeks in a spate of bombings, mostly in Maiduguri.
A source at the mortuary of Borno State hospital in Maiduguri told Reuters that it had received three corpses after the blast. Another hospital source said 16 people injured in the attack had been brought in.
President Buhari has held talks with counterparts in neighbouring countries to set up a joint force to tackle the insurgents and he is planning to visit Cameroon later this month to discuss deeper collaboration.
Buhari is also due to visit U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington on July 20 and the fight against Boko Haram is likely to be high on the agenda.

‘Abducted’ Former FUTA Vice Chancelor Found Dead In His House

The dead body of a former Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Albert Ilemobade, who was said to have been kidnapped, has been found in his house at Ijapo in Akure, Ondo State capital on Sunday morning.

According to a family source, Professor Ilemobade’s driver and gateman killed the former University Don in his house and made away with his Toyota SUV.
However, they ran out of luck as Police intercepted the car at Ogun State, which led to the arrest of the suspects and eventual discovery of Professor Ilemobade’s dead body at the store in his house.
The decomposed body of the professor has been deposited at an undisclosed mortuary in the state capital.
Professor Ilemobade had been reported kidnapped last Sunday when his whereabouts were unknown.
The Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, Wole Ogodo, told a correspondent that the Command would brief the press as soon as they get enough relevant information about it.

Abduction Story
In the earlier report during the week, which has now been found to be untrue, Professor Ilemobade was said to have been abducted alongside his gateman at his residence.
His housemaid reportedly saw the gunmen when they took the former don away.
According to the report, the gunmen, on their arrival at the residence of the former Vice Chancellor, approached the gateman, but before he knew what was happening a gun was reportedly pointed at him and he was asked to lead them to the living room where the former Vice Chancellor was accosted and asked to follow them to their vehicle.
The so-called abductors whisked both the Professor and the gateman away to an unknown destination.
